Jimmy Biggs -A Medway

There’s a landscape somewhere
In the cupboards of Albion
It’s a vista of Medway –
Its chimneys and trees in tandem are towering
And though if only discerned at a squint
The corner boasts Dickens and Coleridge
Discussing on a plinth
The first full circle of every boats pistons
Bursting with the certainty that
They’re scribing our history
Because the painting belies
A forthcoming surfeit
Hope burns in their eyes
Their land is their turf, it
Promises more than pure luck decries
“One day all of this will be worth it.”
