James Jefferys - Beauty Queens I'm scared what I will do in my sleep My telephone's Running low On battery Not waiting for the light of day And it's new rules Cos no-one calls Me anyway If I cry my eyes out, Does that mean I won't see All the beauty queens, Precious little dainty things, Understood and spineless twins Gathered around me? Don't care about your feelings or mine I never flee This irony Suits me fine I haven't talked to anyone In three days straight The cashier at the supermarket Asked if I'd lost weight But it was hard to answer her (As it would be a construct) She disappeared like smoke in air, I'd made the whole thing up If I cry my eyes out, Does that mean I won't see All the beauty queens, Precious little dainty things, Understood and spineless twins Gathered around me?

Anyone? 02:56
James Jefferys - Anyone? So what if this tune Was written about you Just another things goes by And before you wake For habitual sake Let routine clothe you And show you the way.... To anyone out there... Does it sound like I care? To anyone out there.... So what if these words Aren't ever heard? Yet another things goes by And the melody A tune from me to me I can hear, at least Yet another thing goes by... To anyone out there... Does it sound like I care? To anyone out there.... Anyone?

James Jefferys - People I Don't Even Know Medication extending the lives Of people I don't even know You don't deserve, Haven't earned to draw breath Find a dark corner And wait for death Who are you? All these statues are Wearing nice clothes All of them scared, Some of them froze They cling to the chance That one day they'll dance Out this museum And stroke the stars Who are you? Their hopes and ambitions Mean nothing to me They're a photograph Of something unreal Medication extending the lives Of people I don't even know Starry-eyed soul Is something I tried Pareidolia Never was shy Who are you? Nothing rushed in To fill the vacuum I hope that this proves I won't try to attack you Taking up space In the human race Even coins And cliffs have a face If it came down To just me and you I'd let you drown And not lift my boot Medication extending the lives Of people I don't even know

James Jefferys - Tell Me Who Sent You Purring like a cat Purring like a cat in a moment Moving forward, not back Little things like that keep time in track Twisted skin stretched over useless bones Silence in zeroes, speaking in ones Checking his reflection in all the car windows The people conversing inside his head Swung the conversation to his genius, instead So second by second the world around him fled Tell me who sent you Parasite of senses (ooh ooh, ooh ooh) Sucking on placenta Tell me who sent you Slouching on a beach at four am Chords like weeds strangle my brain Won't there ever be a garden again? It's not all bad Stop sulking, you dolt It could well be much worse I could think of Many others who Couldn't finish this verse Tell me who sent you Parasite of senses (ooh ooh, ooh ooh) Sucking on placenta Tell me who sent you

James Jefferys - Faces of Exes The frost thaws on this brand new day They lost, of course, and so do they Cross the moors for the sweet bouquet Or froth at the jaws, as you say? The scene begins with the parish vicar Queens or God – what vanishes quicker? I’m mean, and thinking to lavishly trick her – Some obscene sinning; it’s sad that it’s sicker. The only reason I want success is To imagine the looks on the faces of exes I dream of a tree in a misty park, Of seals in the seal with twisting sharks, And a screaming me under its bark Peeling and cleaning off lipstick marks. What Hell on Earth ever happened here? Lights tell of self-serving nostalgia – Fell as a birth from a chandelier And bells declare. It’s perfect for fear. The only reason I want success is To imagine the looks on the faces of exes Hopefully and sillily I just want them to think of me The artillery is killing me I just want them to think of me I send for the codes, but such things are rationed Men in black robes mutter of crashes Then something explodes, and so cutting her losses She comes over all rosy with a flutter of lashes. The only reason I want success is To imagine the looks on the faces of exes

James Jefferys - Rampage & Focus Rampage of the beasts Mighty like the Taurus Stupid like the finch Focus comes along and it's colder Than a setting sun Is it safe to fight it or to run? I've got one hand waving and the Other holding tight Leaving on a ship in the middle Of the night All the crowds have gathered Just to see the fruition Jostling to check That I have gone Tearing through the dark Ripping up the icebergs Playing a bit part Focus comes along and it's weaker Than the strength of one Is it safe to fight it or to run? I'm stuck in the throes Of being caught of my toes And nobody knows And everything froze When I chose But that's how it goes... I've got one hand waving and the Other holding tight Leaving on a ship in the middle Of the night All the crowds have gathered Just to see the fruition Jostling to check That I have gone

James Jefferys - Sophisticated Minds Sophisticated minds Always seem blind To desperate persuasion (That's all I'm saying) But don't take that from me I don't hold the key To perfect conversation (Just frustrated chasing) Colours splitting out from the clouds – as many as your head will allow! Ours is just to reason why – ask, worry and then to die Sophisticated minds Mechanised sublime Everyone else can tell You're thinking too high of yourself But don't take that from me Cos I can barely see Barely see you at all From my pedestal Colours splitting out from the clouds – as many as your head will allow! Ours is just to reason why – ask, worry and then to die Sophisticated brains Decorate the drains In pretty shades of red Green, purple (that's been said) Acid rain Here again Psycho rain like yesterday Paint me fast So I'll last Psycho rain like yesterday Colours splitting out from the clouds – as many as your head will allow! Ours is just to reason why – ask, worry and then to die

James Jefferys - Miserable Somewhere Else Sunny contradiction, send your rays The leaves have said what they've had to say And all above our heads is grey And over that, a piercing blue That lets the cold air drift straight through How can this petty reprise Never bring someone new to tell? And always come as a surprise I'm not miserable somewhere else Here it is – a new beginning A not being given the chance to win in The creaky season where everyone's grinning And over that, they're positive And worse than that, they've closeted All the things that I've laid out Until my mind is just a shell September's time to look about To be miserable somewhere else Comparing things is quite a game When you know not of other's shame Or through which door their problems came And over that, the door's still open Which could be why they're always joking They've just found the time to chime Their beautiful new bell But scratching round all the while To be miserable somewhere else

All Torn Up 02:53
James Jefferys - All Torn Up All Torn Up All Torn Up Striding with pride What a great new gait that you've got Problems aside That it's about time you forgot All Torn Up All Torn Up Then round the bend There's something that sends you to slouch Your face turns to paste At the sobering sight of a couch All Torn Up All Torn Up Absurd on the curb Saltlick to troubled minds Stable in stable Now let out on the field just to find All Torn Up All Torn Up I'm thinking the shrink Hasn't shut down, not nearly Afraid, instead Just bought a new bed from my fee All Torn Up All Torn Up

Not Enough 03:47
James Jefferys - Not Enough Not Enough A simple song of one, not love is Not Enough To work out how to get above is Not Enough I froze myself and climbed atop and Not Enough Was not a song I ever sung Snow blowing in my hair Nobody else was there Not Enough To stand on those who came before, and Not Enough To maybe, one day think you're sure, but Not Enough A little bit is never more, and Not Enough Is ice to those who never thaw Snow blowing in my hair Nobody else was there Beyond compare, It always got me down It's all there to share So let it all go round Snow melting from us all We must have seemed like fools

The characters and situations portrayed in this album are not fictional. Any similarities to real life are not frivolities of your over-active imagination. They are songs about you, people you know and the terrible things that you, personally have done. You ought to be ashamed.

Cover Photograph and editing by the eminent Matt Charnock. www.facebook.com/mattcharnockphotography

Cover drawings by Laura Nielsen.

If at all possible, buy this album for a nominal price. If not at all possible, just download it for free. Don't worry, I won't look.

Be good to each other.
